For all card types, there will no capping on the foreign currency purchase transactions. The credit card can be used overseas up to the credit limit, while the debit card can be used overseas up to the daily limit.

1. What are the new cards foreign currency cash capping?
HSBC Cards cash overseas withdrawal limit per month will be USD 3000 (or equivalent) effective 15 November 2017.


Note: The monthly capping of USD 3000 (or equivalent) applies to the overall cash withdrawals by the card customer overseas (covering all his accounts & Cards - irrelevant of the account currency).


2. What are the transactions that fall under this monthly capping?
The following transactions are included within the new capping of USD 3000/month:
• All ATM cash withdrawals from customer accounts using Debit Cards
• All ATM cash withdrawals from customer accounts using Credit Cards
• All Cash Advance transactions from ATM machines using credit cards


4. When will the system start calculating the cash FCY usage based on the above cap?
System logic is based on the calendar month. That is to say, the cap to USD 3000 (or equivalent) will be refreshed by the start of each month.
